Fuel Subsidy: Poor Planning, Bane Of Tinubu’s Administration – Rufai Oseni
Arise TV Host and on-air personality, Rufai Oseni has identified poor planning as the major challenge confronting the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Tinubu had on Wednesday directed the National Economic Council to come up with inputs on palliatives and the minimum wage review as part of measures to cushion the pain of subsidy removal.
The president who spoke during a meeting with members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, led by its Chairman, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State in Abuja also directed NEC led by Vice President Kashim Shettima to mobilise various interventions to cushion the hardship faced by the most vulnerable Nigerians.
While analysing the president’s statement on Thursday, Oseni said it is unfortunate that the president has no plans in place for the masses when he declared that ‘subsidy is gone’ in his inaugural speech.
He said “One thing has been said that has dogged this administration- poor planning. The best way to plan is to set your priorities right but the effect of poor planning is incumbent failure. I hope they watch it!
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made a big mistake by saying ‘subsidy is gone’ during his inaugural speech without planning for it. And now, he is trying to plan after making the statement. It is always very hard and that is what we are seeing play out”.
