A TRUE FRIEND:  Netizens Hail, As Ibori Remembers Late President Yar’Adua

Netizens yesterday poured encomiums on former Delta state governor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori after he shared a throwback picture with late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua.

Ibori who posted thd picture on his social media handles wrote “How can I ever forget the friendship and brotherhood we shared! Sleep on Mr. President and gentleman extraordinaire!!!!”.

Commenting on the picture, many netizens praised Ibori for being a true friend of the late President when he was alive and even in death.

Others said the fact that Ibori remembered the late President on a neutral date which was not his birthday ( August 16)  or the anniversary of his death (May 5) demonstrates the fact that he is not a fair-weather friend but a dependable ally who truly missed the former president.

Commenting on the picture, Ogheneserome Omashola wrote “The Best president and the best governor we ever had at then”.

Kelvin Oges wrote ” Is there still a true friends in our society today?. This One’ Nigeria will never forget. Rip Mr President”.

Godfrey Onorigho wrote “One of the best administrations i have ever experienced since my adulthood, may your quite soul rest in perfect peace sir. Tode!!.

Also commenting, Agosogun Raphael wrote “Ex governor’s Ibori is a very open minded personality to everyone that’s why he was connected to people that matters in the society during his tenure who carried everyone along no one is left behind”.

Both Ibori and Yar’adua were governors of Delta and Katsina state respectively from 1999-2007. 

When Yar’adua became the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ibori played a crucial role in his campaign and stood with the president throughout his tenure until he passed away on May 5 2010.
