Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag provided an injury update on Lisandro Martinez after the Argentine was stretchered off during their 2-2 draw with Sevilla in the Europa League quarter final on Thursday.
He said the Argentina international was ‘calm’ and ‘okay’ in the dressing room after he collapsed to the turf with five minutes to the end, with no opposition player around him.
Both Manchester United and Sevilla players gathered around the former Ajax star to check if he was okay.
The World Cup winner was quickly checked by the medical department and the Argentine had to be lifted off the pitch by two Sevilla players.
The defender was then stretchered from the side of the pitch down the tunnel.
Speaking after the game, Ten Hag said the defender was surprisingly upbeat in the dressing room.
“I have spoken to him and he’s okay. He’s calm,” said Ten Hag.
“Of course [it’s important to be calm].”
