Immediate past Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo (SAN) has challenged the Labour Party (LP) to tell Nigerians where it got the information that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is already preparing for a possible re-run of the 2023 presidential election.

The Labour Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi is currently challenging the victory of the APC presidential flagbearer, President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal.

Recall that the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure on Monday said he got information that the APC  was aware the tide was heavily tilted against it in the ongoing legal challenge to the presidential election results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and so is already planning for a re-run.

However, speaking in a chat with worldviewafrica, Keyamo who served as the Chief Spokesperson Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council in the 2023 presidential election however said the APC is not preparing for anything but waiting patiently for the courts to give its verdict on the petitions before it.

He said “Where do they get that information from that the tribunal is going to order a re-run? That is my first question. What forum within the party told them that the APC is already planning for a re-run? They should tell the world where they get that information from”.

“On our part in APC, we are not planning for anything. We don’t want to second-guess the judiciary. We want to give the judiciary absolute respect and deference  for them to come to a decision”.

“We don’t even want to project whether the verdict will be for or against. When any decision is taken, we will take it from there”.
