A former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan has advised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to focus on its case at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal and leave Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate alone.

It will be recalled that the APC had joined the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in calling for the dismissal of the petition filed by the PDP and Atiku challenging the declaration of its candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as winner of the February 25 presidential election.

Also, some chieftains of the APC also asked the former Vice-President to withdraw his case at the Tribunal and congratulate Tinubu in the interest of the nation.

However, speaking in a chat with www.worldviewafrica.com, Ologbondiyan who served as spokesperson of the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council urged the APC to focus on defending its case at the Tribunal and leave Atiku alone.

He said “I don’t know why they are afraid. When we said the election was rigged and it was not the reflection of the wishes of Nigerians, they shouted ‘Go to court! Now that we have gone to court to challenge the illegality, they are still complaining”.

“I really don’t know why they are afraid of the process. Is Atiku doing anything that is outside the process of electioneering and the democratic process? If he hasn’t done that, why are they trying to poke their noses into his affairs”.

“They claimed they won the election. Now that the matter is before the Tribunal, they should prove to the world how they won. They should leave Atiku alone and focus on their case”.
