Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan has said Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State is plotting a self sucession in office.

Speaking with worldviewafrica, Ologbondiyan said by imposing his cousin, Ahmed Ododo as the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the November 11 governorship election, Governor Bello wants a third term through proxy.

He also said it is the desire of the people of Kogi State to have Dino Melaye, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the next governor of the state.

When asked if the PDP stands a chance in the election especially with the incumbency factor at the advantage of the APC, Ologbondiyan said what counts is the mood of the people of the state.

“If truly we are practicing democracy, the issue of incumbency factor should not arise at all. What is important is the mood and emotion of the people of Kogi State”.

“Is it their wish that Yahaya Bello should have a third term? If you have done two terns and then you went and bring your cousin to continue from where you stopped, that is self-succession or third term through proxy”.

“I believe by contesting, Dino is taking up the challenge of the people of Kogi State. He wants to fight their cause and give them real dividends of democracy which the APC has deprived then since coming into power”

” From what we have seen, the people of Kogi are ready to give him their mandate. They want to elect a governor that will serve their collective interests and give a voice to the voiceless in Kogi State. That is what Dino Melaye represents and that is what the people of the state desire”.
