Former Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose said he will be disappointed if President Bola Tinubu fails to reward the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) G-5 governors who worked for him during the 2023 presidential election.
He however that denied reports that the G-5 which include Nyesom Wike, Seyi Makinde , Okezie Ikpeazu, Samuel Ortom and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi will dump the PDP for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
While making a case for Wike, the immediate past governor of Rivers state, Fayose who spoke in an interview on Channels Television programme ‘Sunday Politics’ said Tinubu needs a very brave and courageous man like Wike in his cabinet.
He said “I don’t want to be Minister but if Asiwaju says Fayose, do you want to be Minister and I agreed, what is their headache? During Abacha’s regime about four Afenifere or Awolowo allies joined the Abacha government. Are we not talking Nigeria? is it meant for one person?”.
“ I want Wike to be in Tinubu’s cabinet because he has what it takes to serve Nigeria. Wike is an articulate capacity person. Nigeria needs an average bad person. I support Wike. If Asiwaju finds him worthy or any of the G-5 worthy please serve in Asiwaju’s government. I will be disappointed if Asiwaju does not equally appreciate them for what they stand to represent”.
“Wike must serve. Wike is still a young man. I’m his senior brother. He can’t deny that. He can abuse me on a programme. But let me tell you, Wike is an asset to Nigeria. He is a man of courage. Wike is never timid. He confronts challenges. Asiwaju needs a man like Wike. That is the gospel truth”.
