FCT Unveils Five-Member Hajj Committee

The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Olusade Adesola, unveiled on Friday a five-member committee to oversee the operations and ensure a hitch-free 2023 Hajj pilgrimage for the contingent of the FCT.

This was contained in a statement signed by the FCTA Director of Information and Communication Technology, Muhammad Sule, on Friday.

According to the statement, the committee, headed by the Director of the Human Resources Department, Muhammad Bashir, will support the activities of the FCT Pilgrims Welfare Board with the aim of strengthening the board’s operations for effective service delivery to pilgrims.

While inaugurating the committee on Friday in Abuja, Adesola charged the committee members to identify all grey areas that would hinder the smooth operations of the 2023 Hajj and work out solutions for a remarkable exercise.

He urged the members to view the appointment as a national assignment and a service to God and humanity, adding that the administration set up the committee to properly coordinate Hajj activities and strengthen the capacity of the board to undertake its responsibilities.

Adesola, who said the members of the committee were carefully selected to assist the pilgrims to fulfil their religious obligations, noted that the activities of the Board must be open and transparent to serve the purpose of its establishment.

The five-member committee includes Muhammad Bashir as chairman; Leradoh Abdulrazaq, Muhammad Sule, and Hajarat Alayande as members; and Ghali Kassim, who is to serve as secretary.

Responding on behalf of the Committee, the Chairman, Muhammad Bashir, thanked the Permanent Secretary for the confidence reposed in them; and assured that the Committee will work assiduously to strengthen the Board’s activities and ensure the success of the 2023 Hajj exercise.
