Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), a former Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) on Tuesday said the suspension and arrest of former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Godwin Emefiele is well deserved.

Emefiele was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) on June 10, a day after he was suspended by President Bola Tinubu, citing reforms in the financial sector as well as an investigation into his office.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with worldviewafrica, Sagay who described Emefiele as a terrible fellow said the suspended CBN Governor almost sent Nigerians to untimely deaths with his Naira redesign policy which was carried out during the tail end Muhammadu Buhari administration.

He said “Emefiele’s suspension is something which should even make me go and do thanksgiving in church. He is a man who wanted to destroy this country and all of us. His plan was to send Nigerians to untimely deaths”.

“I have never seen so much suffering in the land. We were begging the banks for our money. Having N10,000 is a luxury for us in my house. The day we managed to get N5,000 from the bank, everybody rejoiced”.

“We really suffered under Emefiele. He is a man who takes delight in seeing his fellow humans suffer. He is a terrible fellow. So, I have no regret about his suspension and arrest. I think he deserves it”.
