A former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka has appealed to Lagos state governor, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to do something urgently about the darkness that has enveloped most parts of Ikeja, the state capital.
In a post on his official Facebook page, Chidoka who tagged the governor on his Facebook page said all the government agencies in Ikeja GRA, especially the Ikeja General Hospital using the Independent Power Project (IPP) have been in darkness for three months due to the inability of the state government to pay Gaslink, the gas supplier.
He wrote “Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Gov, are you aware that all government agencies in Ikeja GRA,- courts, hospitals, and Police- using the Mainland power IPP have been in darkness for 3 months? This is the first time such a long power outage is occurring since 2014 when the IPP started”.
“Gaslink, the gas provider, cut off the supply due to nonpayment by The Lagos State Government, under your watch”.
“The power outage is costing lives at the Ikeja General Hospital and gives a bad signal of lack of care and a perception of the absence of oversight and commitment to public well-being”.
“Please Your Excellency do something urgently”.
