Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara state, Bilyamin Shehu on Thursday said former President Muhammadu Buhari should be blamed for the current crisis arising from the removal of fuel subsidy and not the incumbent, President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking with worldviewafrica, he said the current fuel scarcity arising from subsidy removal would not have arisen if the former president had tackled the issue of subsidy headlong instead of tinkering with it for eight years.

According to him, it is unthinkable that Buhari who once said subsidy is a scam and nothing like that existed paid subsidy for eight years while in office and left the burden for his successor to deal with.

” I believe subsidy removal is the best thing to do. We just have to address the issue once and for all. I put the blame squarely on the doorsteps of the former president who did nothing about the removal in eight years despite his belief that subsidy is a scam”.

” Tinubu did not remove subsidy. It was done by the previous administration. During his inaugural speech, he only reminded Nigerians that fuel subsidy is gone. He also said rather than pay over N400b subsidy monthly to some cartel, the money will be channeled to things that will benefit the masses. That to me is laudable” he said.
