The Labour Party (LP) on Thursday said it is grateful that God has exposed the ineptitude and level of unpreparedness of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu.
Chief Spokesperson of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council (LP-PCC) in the 2023 general elections, Dr Yunusa Tanko also said the current battle by the LP challenging Tinubu’s victory at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal is not that of its presidential candidate, Peter Obi but that of God.
While commenting on the level of hardship in the country occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy, Tanko urged LP members to be patient and wait for the outcome of the tribunal ruling. According to him, the party will decide the next line of action after the court has given its verdict.
He said “We are very grateful to God for exposing the ineptitude and level of unpreparedness of this so-called government. To us, we believe this is God’s battle and not that of any individual. It is not Peter Obi’s battle but that of God. The rights of the people have been trampled upon and they have been denied their rightful leadership by these anti-people forces”.
“So, therefore we should tarry a bit. We should wait for the outcome of the judgement. It is after the judgement has been made that we can now sit back and take the right decision on our next course of action”.
“Any attempt now at protest or anything will be seen as if we are not democrats and we are not following the laid down rules and regulations of the elections, even though we knew that those we battled against are the ones not complying with the rules and regulations, including the umpire”.
“We are civilised, loyal and obedient citizens and we respect the laws of the country. After the judgment, we will now know the next steps to take”.
