Adamu’s Fate Uncertain As APC Holds NEC Meeting July 11

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has summoned meetings of its National Caucus and the long-awaited National Executive Committee (NEC) to douse the crisis rocking the party.

The meetings, which are expected to serve as avenues to resolve the lingering crisis rocking the party, are scheduled for July 10 and 11.

Sources said the meeting may seal the fate of the party’s national chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu who is not in the good books of President Bola Tinubu due to the role he played in the presidential primaries ahead of the 2023 polls.

Adamu had announced immediate past Senate President, Ahmad Lawan as the consensus candidate of the party, a move that was denounced by former president Muhammadu Buhari and rejected by party stakeholders.

A presidential primary was later held on June 7 2022 which was won by Tinubu.

The crucial sessions of the two statutory organs of the party will be attended by President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, former President Muhammadu Buhari, past and present APC governors, as well as former and current Senate President, Speaker of House of Representatives, the National Working Committee members and other party stakeholders.

The dates for the meetings were announced in a statement on Tuesday by the APC National Secretary,  on the party’s official Twitter handle.

“The national caucus meeting is scheduled to hold on Monday, July 10 by 6.00pm prompt. Venue is Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja. All members of the National Caucus are by this invitation to take notice of the meeting in accordance with article 12.5 of the APC Constitution.

“The NEC meeting, however, is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, July 11 at 11.00am prompt at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton in Abuja. All Members of the National Executive Committee are by this invitation to take notice of the meeting in accordance with article 12.3 of the APC Constitution,” the statement said.
