A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jimi Agbaje has said that opposition political parties shouldn’t be discouraged from pursuing their cases arising from the conduct of the 2023 general elections at the court.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and that of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi are currently challenging the victory of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja.

Some eminent Nigerians have been appealing to them to withdraw their petitions and support Tinubu who will be inaugurated on May 29.

Speaking in an interview with worldviewafrica.com, Agbaje, a former governorship candidate of the PDP in Lagos State said while we need peace in Nigeria, there cannot be peace without justice.

He said “Nigeria is in dire straits socially, economically and politically. It is going to take The Almighty’s intervention and the best we have to get us out of our present situation. Good governance can only be delivered by a selfless leadership that is competent”.

“We need peace in the land. There can be no peace without justice acceptable to the generality. The Opposition parties should not be discouraged from pursuing their election objections at all levels in the judicial system”.

“At the end of a hopefully unbiased judgement on the elections, then all hands must be on deck to save Nigeria”.
